Progress Reports

Well, I've stuck to my diet but haven't weighed myself. I don't see any real changes, so I'm not expecting any great loss. Or any loss for that matter. Just tired of getting invested and then disappointed. So, I'm just doing what I'm supposed to and expecting nothing. Any loss will be a pleasant surprise. A gain would probably send me to Dunkin' Donuts.

The exercise class at TKD hasn't started either. Maybe in July?

And I may get to go back to work! Woo! I could use a paycheck, and I miss my friends.

I have done a few fabric designs, but as Spoonflower still has the color profile on hold, I am reluctant to proof anything. So, I may wait to post any new designs until I can get them in my hot little hands and do something with them. We shall see.

So, in all this downtime I've had, I started this. Cathedral Stars by Bonnie Hunter. I have a ton of scrap fabric, but haven't quilted in over 20 years. The beauty of this one? It looks complicated, by when you look at blocks, it's really not. The diagonal piecing also adds to the movement in this quilt and makes it look so very involved. I adore it. I have scrap enough, more than I need, but in looking all of mine is jewel toned, and none black. So tomorrow I'll be visiting the Goodwill to find old pillowcases and shirts in lighter tones, and something dark for the black areas. I have excite!!!! Woo!!!

Sketching and Stretching

I've been feeling so stuck.

Yesterday, my daughter's Taekwondo instructor informed me that there would be an exercise group for interested parents. Mainly because we usually just sit there for an hour, waiting on our kids. How about instead, and opportunity to get up and moving yourself for an hour?

I thought this was brilliant! However, I don't really move right. I look okay at a passing glance, but arthritis and AS really limit the way I'm moving currently. So I went to her office and showed her.

"See, this is my arm, which is temporarily stuck, so I can't do anything like push ups. I do tai chi and yoga at home, and want to take part, but you have to know, I'm going to look ridiculous. My hips are also stuck. I don't move right."

Turns out several parents have approached with interest, but are shy, as we're all out of shape. So maybe my broken self can inspire someone else to get up and moving. It will certainly help me get my arm back quicker, and I could stand to lose 60 a few pounds. I'm over looking silly. I know I'll look silly. But if I don't start really fighting this arthritis now, it's going to win. I'm only 44. I can still move. I have to move!!!

As well, I haven't drawn in forever. So I need to get my 'hand' back. I've decided to pick up my pencils and pastels again. I know they're in the craft cubbies somewhere. Perhaps in a few short weeks I will have made some progress in exercising both my health and my art? I've already adjusted my pantry and eating schedule for  six week body makeover meals... Now it's just ready, set, live!

Wish me luck!

More for the Retro Kitchen Palette!

Okay I did 5 more designs. I like to have a few to a collection, for those who like to use coordinating fabrics in their projects. I realize, as it's a contest, that there will be lots to choose from in this palette, but I got a little carried away. Admittedly. This is the last for this palette. I promise!

Retro Kitchen Plaid

Retro Kitchen Stripe
Retro Kitchen Ginghams
This is what I finally settled on for my entry. And I am done with this palette. I can't wait for the Spoonflower color profile update, so I can get these proofed and up for sale. On to something new!

Retro Kitchen Palette

I love to work with a palette! A palette tends to keep me from being too 'all over the place' while still allowing lots of creative freedom. So, I'm excited that Spoonflower's next contest is retro kitchen palette restricted. Yay! As I intended to build part of my blog around palettes, what better place to start than with a bit Spoonflower fun?

Spoonflower Retro Kitchen Palette

I know!!! That's what I thought too! What am I going to do with that??? After much pondering over kitchen ideas, here's what I finally did with it:

Retro Ruby Large Scale Repeat
Retro Kitchen Chickens
Retro Kitchen Ruby Red
